Gaslight

Ingrid Bergman is going crazy– or is she?  A local detective appears at her home with some chilling questions.  From the play “Angel Street”, this classic tale of narcissistic “gaslighting” might remind you of a few relationships you’ve been in before… just with fancier words.

Rear Window

This one might feel like a slow start and it’s a little longer than it needs to be, but the slow burn is worth the chills.  Jimmy Stewart is a news photographer laid up with a broken leg.  Grace Kelly brings him soup and helps him solve a crime (murder?) he swears he witnessed through the window in an apartment across the street. (PS if you poke around you can also find a decent remake with Christopher Reeve and Daryl Hannah)

Dial M for Murder

Grace Kelly’s husband wants her dead, but why?  And will she survive?  No one is safe in Hitchcock films… (p.s. check out A Perfect Murder for an updated remake with Gwyneth Paltrow & Viggo Mortensen)

Psycho

Janet Leigh check into the Bates motel on a rainy night after robbing a bank.  Her sister comes looking for her and makes several horrifying discoveries.  This is the ultimate scary movie, and still puts you on the edge of your seat.

What’s your favorite classic suspense film??
