I think women have been trying to figure out for ages how to get away with wearing tulle skirts. It’s that part of us that never grew out of being a princess and a ballerina.
Monique Lhuillier sent over her gorgeous black tulle skirt and I thought it might be a nice idea to show you a variety of ways to wear it.
THE VINTAGE ADDICT
The most obvious pairings with Tulle are nods to classic beauties. Obvious isn’t necessarily boring if you do it right! I love this with the Monique Lhuillier crop white top and a simple vintage Dior handkerchief. This wears well for an afternoon fundraiser or picnic at a museum.
THE EYE-CATCHER
If you’re bold enough to go for it, GO FOR IT! This adorable sports bra by This Is A Love Song from Great Labels LA. I think this works at a concert with little black booties.
THE RED CARPET ROSE
This is a simple way to elegant meets sexy… Black Lace tops like these from River Island or Cliche are great staple wardrobe items.
THE AESTHETE
This look suits the high-minded, sophisticated artist. Art gallery openings, that Coeur d’Alene auction everyone is talking about… you know… the places you go to look fabulous. This look is paired with a high ruffled collar from JCrew, Lace Up booties from a personal favorite Pour la Victoire, a soft red blazer by Oasap and purse by Prada.
THE BRIDE TO BE
You are the belle of the ball and plan on enjoying the party way past the formal events. You need a transforming outfit. I love this dress from MaxAzria, and I paired it with stunning, beaded kitten heels from Dolce & Gabbana. Courtesy of Great Labels LA
THE CITY BRUNCH BELLE
This #powertulle ensemble is for the girl feeling like FUN on a weekend brunch. I paired Monique’s tulle skirt with a collection of gold baubles and a chain link/painted PRADA bag. The Loco for Coco shirt is by This Is A Love Song and though I wore vintage Chanel demi-heels in the spirit of reference, I also recommend a black, wedged bootie with this skirt. THE BIRTHDAY GIRL
If there’s ever a day for a princess skirt… it’s your birthday! Today is mine, so here’s an outfit fit for the Birthday Girl…Crown Headband from JCrew, Leotard by American Apparel, Sequin Shawl (try this top also), Ruby Slippers by Aldo (these too!).

BRAVE GIRL
This enesmble is absolutely an every-day look for the bravest of girls. It’s plays for day or night. Wear as comfortably as you would jeans– running errands, going to the movies, lunch meetings, drinks… this runs the gamet and it’s my favorite of all. The little oxblood purse is Marc Jacobs, as is the white silk top. The vegan leather jacket is Bebe, Blue Suede Shoes by Diane Von Furstenberg

THE HOSTESS
Bring the country-girl-cum-fundraiser-maven to life with this blousy, tweed combination. Who else but Christian Louboutin could make these shoes? Effortless animal-print blouse by Elodie, and sweet straw hat from Goorin Bros. The final measure of style here is this burlap-inspired jacket done to perfection by Oscar de la Renta.
THE PUNK PRINCESS
For this casual look I paired the skirt with a stunning orange & tan leather jacket from Helmut Langand a hot pink silk top from Vince Henley. This casual/fancy look would not be complete without some black and white– Converse, a bag from Salvatore Ferragamo and shades from Marc byMarc Jacobs all courtesy of GREAT LABELS. I love this look for a Concert or night out at a Modern Art Museum.
